April 16th - Yes, No, Maybe

Maybe: The Chipotle Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Vegetables from Alexia.
I found it in the freezer section at Walmart for around 3 bucks...and it looked different than other frozen bagged veggies so I grabbed it. It was a nice side item for a mexican themed dinner, we had tamales with it. In order to get the sweet potatoes to cook through it felt like the black beans were getting mushy. That didn’t bother me so much but my husband hates mushy beans??? I still have no idea what that means, but he lets me know when the beans I make are too mushy. My favorite thing about it though was how bright the colors were, a nice change to just something green. Would I buy this again...maybe...I’m not going to rush out and grab it anytime soon. I would try the other varieties first but I’m not against getting it. If you want to add a little variety to your frozen veggies give it a whirl.

No: Jonathan Condition Add Moisture, Moisturizing Conditioner.
I like to finish something if at first I’m not thrilled with it to see if maybe it grows on me. This didn’t grow. I purchased it because it is a line know to have vegan products, and I’m looking for my favorite animal-free products. This one I would pass on in the future. For $22 I expect more. It’s not like a conditioner I’ve ever used before. It felt to me like when you are almost out of conditioner and you fill the empty bottle with a little bit of water to get one or two more showers out of it...it had the watery consistency of that. It has a coconut-y smell which I liked but I didn’t feel like this did anything for my hair...it was just going through the motions.

Yes: Sweet Lips Lip Scrub from Lush.
I’m addicted...I’m not lying. I have had the jar for almost a month now and am still as thrilled with it as I was when I bought it. It was an impulse buy ($8.95) and the guy at Lush offered to let me try it. Ridiculous, I bought it at once. It is a scrub for dry lips, I was needing one anyway. It has the consistency of sugar and tastes like it too. I use it in the shower every third day so I don’t have to worry about making a mess on the floor, and after you use it...you can EAT it! Yep...it tastes just as good as it smells. I bought the chocolate flavor but they also have mint and bubblegum. Plus it’s Vegan, for all of you animal lovers. I will probably have all of them within the next few months...and I will defiantly be giving these as gifts. I even made my husband try it...he gave it a grunt or two...that means he likes it.

What Time Is It?

I finished a project tonight I've been working on for about a week. I don't really know why I was so drawn to these clocks, but a few weeks ago my mom and I ventured to Ikea on one of her trips to see me, and I knew the clocks were going to come home with me.

My husband is from Pittsburgh, I was born in Panama City and it is where the people I love most in the world live, and finally Port St. Lucie...where we share our home. These clocks represent all parts of our life. The past, present and future...in many aspects.

I do have a love affair with clocks for some reason. As I look around my house I seem to have clocks on almost every wall. I love the chiming and the tock-ing. I simply enjoy the numbers and how no matter where you are in the world or where you are in life... they are consistent. (I hope it's not too much...)

(I used my Cricut to cut adhesive vinyl for the walls and choose not to align the words to make it a little more fun. The clocks were all purchased from Ikea and I painted the wall Sandpiper from the Martha Stewart Living line, flat interior.)

How Does This Happen?

As I was pulling out something to wear to the gym this morning I finally had a chance to go through my t-shirt drawer. Yes, it is what it sounds like. T-shirts that I lounge around in, sleep in, get dirty in...but never go out in public in.
As I was digging through piles of old radio shirts, movie promo shirts, tacky vacation shirts I realized...if I were going out in public, a gym no less, I couldn't wear any of these. And if I couldn't wear any of these in public what was the point of keeping them? Absolutely nothing.
It was time for them to get out. Out of the drawer, out of my bedroom, out of my house...out of cluttering my life.
Why is it that adults act crazy for a freebie t-shirt. Go to a ball game, or concert or a new business opening. If there is a chance a free T-Shirt...someone is drooling for it. I don't get it. One of the perks of being in my industry is that I was always the one giving out the shirts and the leftovers just migrated to my house. Time for them to find another home.
If I learned anything from "What Not to Wear" it is...if it is something you can't wear out in public...don't have it. That made me think of my underwear drawer. Oh gosh..all of those beautiful pieces...that seemed to have lost their beauty. Faded prints, strings hanging off the seams, ripped lace. You know the kind.
Why do I still have it? I never wear them, I just feel bad for them and let them take up space in my life. No more. Out they go. Don't worry...those aren't going to Goodwill. Those will unfortunately spend the rest of their days in a landfill somewhere.
today was a day of purging embarrassing T-shirts and undies. I'm quite proud of my progress...just don't go into my garage or craft room. That is a different story.

Is Anyone Else Tired of Always Starting Again?

What I mean from this is working out, or dieting...or both. I've decided that Monday I will get back on the horse and attempt it AGAIN, for the one millionth time. uhh...

I know people say if you can do it consistently for two weeks it becomes a habit and a switch goes off in your brain that says, "Hey,I love working out!" Whatever. That seems like a load of crap to me.

People that love working out annoy me. I once had a girl say to me "Oh, I love Crystal Light."
*Correction, no one willingly loves Crystal Light. Yes, don't get me wrong...it is an amazing product. One I use almost everyday...but honestly if I had to choose between Crystal Light and every type of sugary, fatty drink...no way you will find me picking Crystal Light. I guess you can say that's why I have to start at the gym again.

It comes down to this: I have to become the girl that is convinced she LOVES Crystal Light, that LOVES the gym, that I LOVE all the things that annoy me at this moment.

All of this makes me want to stop by Taco Bell ASAP. Um...Taco Bell. No skinny girl ever says she loves Taco Bell.

My Feet Hurt

So I've been standing a little more than usual...in heals no less...and I dread it. Not the standing that is, but how dry and nasty my feet get. It's like I have that old lady crusty ring around my foot and no matter what I do, there it is.
Yes, lotion at night, scrubbing with a pumice stone and even the scrapper when I get a pedi and don't you know...it comes back.
Is this something I'm gonna have to live with forever? Just another sign of getting old? Do you know of a great product for my seemingly 80 year old feet? At this point I will try just about anything.
I was thinking about posting a picture of them, but I thought I would hold off...for now that is...
